Arcade State – PAPER HEART

Arcade State are one of the only bands in our scene that are able to have a definitive sound whilst making each track have their own unique feel surrounding it. The second single taken from the bands upcoming debut album Paper Heart yet again highlights the talent the band has at a taking you on a journey throughout the 3 minutes and 46 seconds the track lasts for.

From the get go this track has attitude it grabs the listener due to a very distinctive aura that elevates the track to a new level. From the instrumental to the vocal delivery everything has a bit of a haunting twist on this track with vocalist Ciaran opening with a different style to usual but one that amplifies the atmosphere on the track What makes this track so special is that every element of the song including the lyrics are intense.

“I tried to torch you with the sun , now I know you’ll never burn , feel you’re skin rip apart”

Closing lyrics to the first verse

“ You are now the cause of sin , you’re my human heroin , I see it tears on the strings of you’re paper heart “

Opening lyrics to the second verse

Intense maybe a nice way of describing the soul crushing breakdown that sees the band go to a place that they’ve never been before. A horrible yet beautiful explosion of sound erupts midway through the song which is bound to catch a few off guard while others like myself will be brought to doing the stink face as we head bang along to the ferocious end to the track.

Live debut of PAPER HEART

It has to be mentioned especially in tracks like this the decision to add in the extra guitar player was a stroke of genius from the band and if there was ever a track that to prove that they made the right decision this is the one everything is heavier, dirtier but more polished.

But most importantly the music is better than it ever has been Arcade State in their final form are not a band to be messed with in the coming months if these last two singles are anything to go by then their debut album Life Is Not Linear will see this band reach the heights that they were always destined for.
